We
are not fans of “fine dining” but La Tortue made a
believer out of us. Dennis & I had a six-course seafood dinner
for 16 euros each and my mother ate the vegetarian menu for 12
euros. The restaurant was quiet, yet lively, and the service was
a delight. The highlight of the meal was the lobster mousse. It
was proof that you don’t need a noisy, smoke filled room
to have a great evening. The point was further driven home a week
later when we ate at a T.G.I. Friday's in Bethesda, MD and couldn't
hear a word over the blaring music.
We
stayed at the Hotel
du Dauphine, which was conveniently located and had great
rooms with flower-filled window boxes. Dennis had fun navigating
the narrow cobbled streets in the rental car. The town planners
did not have cars in mind when the streets were built.
